The Neverhood and Earthworm Jim creator Doug TenNapel announced that he's working on a new 'full sized, PC and Mac point and click adventure game in clay and puppet animation.' The Neverhood still looks unlike any other game 17 years later.The announcement was made over TenNapel's where he noted that he'd be working alongside his old The Neverhood and Earthworm Jim colleagues Mike Dietz and Ed Schofield as well as The Neverhood composer Terry Taylor.The upcoming game will feature 'new characters, but in my usual style,' TenNapel added. He then asked fans for suggestions on what they'd like to see in the game. 'What would you, the Neverhood fans, want to see in a new game? TenNapel then explained that he can't make an official The Neverhood game - or an iPhone port of the original - because he no longer own the IP rights. He sold them to Dreamworks back in the day prior to the publisher's acquisition by EA, where they now rest.The Neverhood was a pretty great claymation point-and-click adventure game from 1996. It was succeeded by its PlayStation platformer sequel Skullmonkeys as well as a Japan-only sports action game Klaymen Gun-Hockey, of which the original developer was not involved.
